Was you intrigued by my post title, I hope you were I worked hard on it, lol (laugh out loud). I am going to start a series of posts like this due to the many new places I have found online. Now these places are not from search engine results but from links within other sites. The places I am going to share with you in this post were found via my facebook fanpage news feed.
Let me tell you, when I click on links within other sites it becomes a trail of exciting breadcrumbs, its great finding the unknown. I do this type of link clicking all the time but this time I thought I should share these places with my readers. So if you are an artist, designer or even a crafter you might find something new reading these posts. Then again you may already know the places I find ( that could be because I clicked your links on your site, who knows).
O.k that’s the intro done, let’s get down to business.
This share consists of 3 places, didn’t want to overwhelm you to quickly
1st – MondayArtDay.blogspot.com – This is a challenge blog, which happen every Monday. On this day they give a word pr phase and the members illustrate their ideas and then post their work on the site.
2nd – IllustrationFriday.com – Yes another challenge blog. As the url suggests this a Friday challenge. Same as above they give a topic and you are free to illustrate however you want to interpret it.
Both these sites are great as inspiration boosters, especially when that creative block sets in. I know you are saying I don’t have time, well sometimes we need to find a little time to try something different. At the end of the day you don’t have to actually take part and submit, you could simply do some sketches of ideas but keep them to yourself.
3rd – IllustrationMundo.com – I am still exploring this site, the main section I see is that if offers a database of artists / designers work and you can submit your work to that database. Can’t say more than that because I need time to explore more myself. I can say that there is load to see, read, join and discuss here. I have found some articles that I really want to read. One especially caught my eye and its titled “Does a professional illustrator need a style?” This is actually on another site (it’s the editor personal site) but the links are on this site.
There you have it 3 new places revealed today. Go on check them out and come and tell me what you think. Find anything that gets you really excited, share it here.

I have been fascinated by the making of books after I watched Kirstie Allsop on channel’s 4 programme Kirsties Handmade Britain show. After watching that show, I had a look at YouTube to see what videos were available to broaden my knowledge of my new interest of book making. Actually I am glad I did because when you focus on one way of doing things you do limit your creativity. For example on Kirsties Handmade Britain they said to use leather as the cover and wax thread for the book binding. Even though I loved the final finish of the leather cover style I wanted to try it now and could not wait to buy some old leather items for the material, so thanks to YouTube videos I saw one which simply used several sheets of paper. Ok it was very basic but it allowed me to take that idea and create my own which was to use a greeting card as the book cover while still using the stitch method to bind the overall book.
Let me just say I loved doing this, when I has finished my friend said that looks great, please make me one to give as a gift to a friend, so I did. I have always loved being creative especially with my hands but I have to be honest since working on JWGreeting I have kind of lost that need to physically make stuff like I used to. Even though I still sketch, I really have become a slave to my computer, I know I finish my designs on computer but you know how it is, you find other stuff online that looks interesting and before you know it its 12pm at night, you tired and you have not got around to the many many ideas swirling around in your head. So you put them off until tomorrow which is halted by addressing emails, for-filling orders, finishing off designs etc… But once in a while we, well I have to stop and take a breath and give in to my creative urges because they can be more rewarding and this is the case for my greeting card book making idea. They are great as gifts as my friends have already noticed, now I have a make a few before Christmas which is also allowing me to think about making a selling a few either on JWGreeting site or over at Esty.com or at Notonthehighstreet.com. I love making them but I would want to keep then unique so each one would be different which would make them extra special as a gifts. Any hoo below is the final image of my book using a greeting card and also the video. If you enjoy please share your comments on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and of course with all your friends.
Christmas is just around the corner and I have design a selection of festive greeting cards that its ideal to send to your loved ones. They are based on the family theme which all should look to embrace around this special time. Below are 2 designs to give you a little preview. The rest of them are on my website waiting for you.
From reading my past posts you know that I get inspiration for my designs from everywhere. Well i wanted to take it a step forward and share with you how one design i had went from a messy sketch to finally ending up on my website. Even though the video is short the actual process isn’t at all short. Getting from sketch to just the outline stage can take days or even weeks, but i wanted to give you a little look at the scenes behide the clean cut website I share my designs on. Before you view I must tell you that the audio on this video isn’t that good. Still trying to figure out the right volume for my headset mic.
These designs have been on the website a little while but I have not got around to placing them on here and over the internet like i should. These designs are all about the hairstyles of yester years. Showcasing the smooth sleek afros, or the high top with short back an sides and not forgetting the finger wave style.
